Painting and Decorating following Water Damage

I have recently finished a job for a regular customer of mine, decorating their hall, stairs and landing to their house in Brundall, Norwich.

The required look was a warm, welcoming feel when you enter their home - and used a combination of light cream above the dado rail with a light brown stone colour underneath to create this. I used Dulux vinyl matt on this job, which the customer chose. I was happy to work with this paint - as on occasions a customer can chose a paint which is not most ideal for the job itself, which makes my job a lot harder. However, more often than not the customer asks for my advice and I can explain which different paint types are ideal for different materials and finishes, and point them in the right direction. 

As always, the preparation is the most important and time consuming part of any decorating job. With this particular job, it was even more so important as it was re-decorating following some water damage. Firstly, I stain blocked the area using Zinsser B-I-N (stain blocking seals the stain that has penetrated through the wall - but the wall has to be dry in order for it to work). Next came the filling and sanding down (followed by a very good hoover up).

Stairways

Stairways can be very tricky and most people do not like to tackle these themselves. We're extremely experienced and know how to adapt to any stairway (as they come in many different shapes and sizes) so we can help overcome these situations, bearing in mind the heavy health and safety standards whilst doing so.

This particular job took me and my apprentice 4 days to complete. The customer was so pleased with the finished article and actually referred me to a friend of theirs and also asked me to renovate on another one of their properties in Thorpe End. Knowing how delighted my customers are with the end results of the work I carry out to their homes gives me great job satisfaction - and one of the main reasons I love what I do.
